Wout on call, Erik? Ten Hag 'telephoned Weghorst before meeting him in the Netherlands after the World Cup to discuss a move to Man United' - with Red Devils boss keen to sign on-loan Besiktas striker from Burnley

Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag reportedly met up with Burnley striker Wout Weghorst in Holland in a bid to convince him to join him at Old Trafford.

The Holland international has enjoyed a stellar season so far on loan at Besiktas, scoring nine goals in 18 appearances for the Turkish side and has been linked with a January move to United.

The 30-year-old, however, previously struggled to perform in the Premier League scoring just twice as Burnley were relegated last season.
